I'm looking at getting one (or two) of the new Mac Pro for my post facility that I'm looking to set up this year, and will be getting one of the high end graphics card for it. The MBP 16 supports refresh rates of 47.95, 48, 59.94, and 60Hz. This allows us to match the frame rate (X2) for source video at 24fps and 30fps (and HFR (high frame rate) video at 48 and 60fps). It may be hard to see the difference with the untrained eye (I'm as yet unable to notice any artefacts), but I want to preserve this ability while shopping for external monitors.
I can find very little discussion on this topic -- and a lot of cross chatter.
What displays work with the selectable refresh rates for on the MBP16?
Will FreeSync, designed for gaming, also work to sync a FreeSync-compatible display with source video on a MBP16 (or others)? Would changing the built-in display serve to set an external display at a corresponding frequency?
Does MBP16 even support FreeSync?

I have the AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB version, but there is also a 4GB version and a AMD Radeon Pro 5300M. I think all the 5000-series AMD Radeons support FreeSync, but I'm not sure the MBP utilizes this feature.

If you use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac, you can visit the AMD website to download the latest version of their drivers for Windows. These Mac computers use AMD graphics:

Check your version of AMD graphics drivers
- Start up your Mac in Windows.
- Take any of these steps to open Radeon settings:
- Right-click your desktop and choose AMD Radeon Settings.
- Or click Radeon Settings in the notification area.
- Or choose AMD Radeon Settings from the Programs menu.
- In Radeon settings, click the System Tab, then click the Software tab.
- The version number is shown under Driver Packaging Version.
Download and install the latest AMD graphics drivers

- In Windows, go to the AMD website, then click Drivers & Support.
- Select your product from the list, not the menu: First select Graphics, then select Mac Graphics in the next column, then select Apple Boot Camp in the next column.
- Click Submit to view the list of available drivers.
- Look for the driver version that supports your Mac model. If it's a later version (higher number) than the version installed on your Mac, click Download.
- Extract the downloaded ZIP file, then run the Setup app in the resulting folder to install the drivers.
